This morning, I received an email from a client about next week's meeting. The subject line was “Updated sales figures”, so I expected a simple request for numbers. But I read the whole message before I replied. The client needed the latest figures for three products, not the full report. She also wanted a short explanation of why sales had fallen in April. At the end of the email, she mentioned a deadline: Thursday at midday. That was a day earlier than we had agreed. I checked whether I could get the information in time. Then I sent a short reply to confirm the request and the new deadline. I also explained that one product's figures were still being checked. That way, she knew what to expect.

Sam opens an email from Elena, a client. The subject is “Updated proposal for Friday”. Her message is short, but it contains several requests.
“Could you send prices for both a six-month and a twelve-month contract? Please keep the current start date. Also, could you confirm whether training is included? We need the updated proposal by 10 a.m. on Friday so we can review it before our afternoon meeting.”
Before replying, Sam makes a short list: add two prices, keep the start date, explain the training cost, and send the proposal by Friday morning.
He notices that the deadline is not the meeting time. Elena needs the document earlier so her team can prepare. He also checks the question about training instead of assuming it is included. Sam asks Alex to update the prices while he checks the training cost. Now they both know what to do and when it must be ready.
Falar
