I work as a designer, and I need some advice about a client who has not paid me. In March, we agreed on a price for a new website. We both signed a contract. It said the final payment was due ten days after I finished the work. I sent the completed website on the second of April. The client replied by email and said she was happy with it. But three weeks later, I still had not received the money. I sent two reminders. Last Friday, she told me that her company was having financial problems. She offered to pay half now and half in three months. I have kept the contract and all our emails. I want to understand my options before I reply.

Alex meets a lawyer after losing a job. Two issues appear in the client's account: the dismissal and an unpaid salary. The lawyer needs to understand both, but first checks the order of events.
The salary was due on Friday. The employer dismissed Alex the following Monday. Alex received a letter at the meeting and also emailed the manager about the missing payment. The manager has not replied.
Before discussing a possible claim, the lawyer asks for the employment contract, the dismissal letter and the email. These documents may provide evidence of what happened.
When you listen to a client, separate facts from opinions. “My employer dismissed me on Monday” gives you a fact to check. “They treated me unfairly” tells you how the client sees the situation. Both matter. Use short questions to fill any gaps, then summarise the account so the client can correct anything you have misunderstood.
Falar

- Could you walk me through what happened from the beginning?
- Did you sign any written agreement at that time?
- What is your main priority in resolving this matter?
