Honestly, the first attempt didn't work. I said I'd take the calls and the report, and Sofia took the slides, but there was a lot of overlap — we were both talking to the same client without knowing it. So we sat down again and split it by client instead of by task: I own everyone from A to L, she owns M to Z, and whoever owns the client does the whole thing for them, calls, report, slides. It felt less fair on paper, because her list is longer, but it removed the overlap completely, and that mattered more than an even split.

WHY THE FIRST SPLIT DIDN'T WORK
We divided the work by task: I took the calls and the report, Sofia took the slides. It looked fair on paper. In practice, we were both contacting the same clients without realising it, and twice a client got two different answers to the same question.
The problem wasn't effort, it was overlap. When two people can both touch the same piece of work, something eventually falls through the middle, because each assumes the other has it.
So we split by client instead: I own clients A to L end to end, Sofia owns M to Z. Whoever owns the client does the whole thing for them — calls, report, slides. It's not an even split; her list is longer than mine. But there's no overlap left, and no client gets two answers anymore.
Perguntas:
1. What went wrong with splitting the work by task?
2. What does splitting "by client" mean here?
3. Why does the writer accept an uneven split?
